TK Thorne takes a fresh and intriguing approach to telling the story of the unnamed biblical wife of Lot, the woman who was turned into a pillar of salt after fleeing the destruction of Sodom. Told through this extraordinary woman’s eyes, readers  experience the vast, exotic and dangerous world of ancient biblical times.  ANGELS AT THE GATE is the story of Adira, an impulsive young fifteen-year old girl raised as a boy by her father, leader of a caravan after his wife died in childbirth.  Schooled in languages and negotiation, Adira has enjoyed much freedom but with the looming changes she will experience as a woman, this she fears will end it all . But bigger dangers are on the horizon for Adira than her changing body.

With the arrival of two mysterious and handsome strangers  rumored to be holy, messengers of El, the hebrew God and possibly angels – Adira’s secure world will crumple . Raiders invade the caravan, kill her beloved father, kidnap one of the holy messengers and stripe her of her freedom.

Caught between the oath she made to her dying father and her love for one of the “Angels”, she abandons all she knows to  avenge her father and free her kidnapped love. With only her loyal dog, Nami, at her side, Adira must use the skills she learned in the caravan to survive the perils of the desert and Sodom.

ANGELS AT THE GATE, though set in biblical times and centred on a biblical character, is not a book about religion or spiritualism. It is a unique and fictional story of a captivating  woman trying to find her way and honor her father in a dangerous and shifting world. It is a story about making choices, asking the right questions, love and the struggle between honor and individuality.  With beautiful prose, well developed settings and characters readers will be swept away to ancient Canaan, Babylon and Sodom.
